Tire wear
I'm having a problem with some seriass cupping wear on my front tires. I mean, Michael Phelps level cupping. They're also wearing down smooth on the outboard side of the tread (mostly on the passenger side). I'm eating up new tires about every 4-5000 mi.
I know that bad shocks are usually the culprit so, I've tried putting new ones on. No help. I only tried the cheapest Monroe gas shocks that were listed for my rig though.
I also know that I need to do a kingpin job on her which, I'm chomping at the bit to do but, due to some very frustrating circumstances, will have to wait another two or three months.
Anyway, my rambling question is:
1) whether any of you have dealt with this before
2) different shocks I should try (I know they can get pricey but, so can new tires!)
3) If kingpins with 360,000+ miles on 'em are likely part of the problem

I would think it's probably a worn front end...king pins, upper and lower bearings, tie rods, wheel bearings etc. With that kind of miles a bunch of stuff is worn out.
My 93 1st gen donor truck for the 4wd conversion had tires on it that I think were worn similar to yours. I did a complete top to bottom front diff rebuild before the conversion and my tires have worn perfectly for over 50K miles now.
