Tire Chains

Resurrecting an old thread. Here in GA we don't have deep snow but once every couple of years we deal with unplowed roads that seem to be solid ice. And good quality new tires aren't much help. Any recommendation as to brand and/or style for snow chains?
TIA.

Got on a snowy hill offroad today I couldn't get up with Blue. Threw the chains on and drove right out. 1 ton 2wd with empty box.

You are probably the first person ever to put tire chains on a boat trailer...
Please tell me that's so you can drive down south and boat and you're not fishing up there in that weather.

The trailers are chained so I have a prayer of getting down the back side without folding up the train.

If you ever think Homestake is bad, just go north a little bit to McDonald. It gets just as much, if not more truck traffic, but is always less attended to by the plow trucks.

x2 on the PeWag's. They can't really be beat if you want the best.

I use chains for plowing when needed. Been running V-Bars for years with good results. Tried cable chains once and they lasted half the storm, took what was left of them back to where I bought them and they gave me the money back. I put 5 - SS - S hooks crimped on to the outer facing chains and run a heavy bungy cord through the hooks which keeps them from loosening up.

I live in the flatland of Canada and don't really get much snow but those Goodyear duratracs sure get through it when I find it. I have v bar ladder chains when I go up North ice fishing on my 4th gen. That thing is just a tank then, was pretty sure was going to break my grille with the snow rolling over the hood

I went from years of running BFG AT's to Goodyear Duratracs about a year ago. I also have tire chains and have had to use them in the past in the snow. This year with the Duratracs I have not had to chain up yet. About a month back we got about 18" of snow and I was able to get by just fine with just the tires. This was all on the dirt road of my drive way which is about 5 miles to the pavement.
I have seen how chains on the ice can really help out and now that is the only place I can see using them.
I got my chains from Tirechains.com, I got the heavy duty V-bar chains for 285/75-16 tires.
