Throttle bracketry difference on IC vs non- IC cummins
Hey, so i have this 1989 non IC 12 valve thats going in my '75, but im going with an intercooler and the brackets are different. The non ic bracket is way bigger and bolts to the crossover horn. I cant have that with the intercooled horn. Not sure yet what ill use for horn, either homemade 3 inch or a 24 valve intake horn. Anyways, i can see the bracket is different. What else is different if i want to switch over so that i can start collecting parts? Throttle cable? And whatever other linkages and parts. I also assume those will be hard to find.
any help greatly appreciated.

The aluminum plate that bolts on the head is different, as is the location of the grid heater and intake. This difference in intake horn location, changes the options for the injector lines to fit through the valve covers. Which changes the injector lines themselves.
The throttle linkage is different The throttle rods length is different. Most of the rest of the stuff you can mix and match.
I would have most if not all these hard to find parts.

Ah, so i need to use intercooled lines if i go with the intercooled bracket and intake horn location? I do have them. What if i keep the intake horn where the non ic would have it, and use the intercooled bracket? Right now i have the plate still how it was, along with my non ic injector lines on it.
Thanks
Thanks
It has been a few years since I last did that swap
I think once you use the different intercooled plate, which moves the intake horn location to where the other injection lines will not work. You also mess with the two different styles of throttle brackets because of the way they bolt to the motor.

Ok thanks
Ill look if i can make it work with the non ic injectors lines with the old intake plate and location, so i might just need the bracket and the linkages. Ill look into that sometime hopefully this week and pm you with what i would need.

There are lots of differences between non-IC and IC that starts quite a domino-effect.
Decide which style vacuum pump you will run. That affects a bunch of bracketry too. The IC rad hose fitting for the top of the engine is easy to find.
You may want to consider changing up the throttle bracket completely, for something more minimalist. Sample:
