Three Wire Tranny on '93
Yesterday I noticed the overdrive solenoid on my A518 has 3 wires coming out of it. What gives? Do I have an OD section from a gasser? The wire colors are: orange/white, black/blue, purple/yellow.
The build sheet for the truck says A518, and it surely is not a lock-up tranny. Any ideas?

The funny part is the tranny does not exibit lock-up charactersitics. I have owned this truck for 8 years and since it had 30,000 miles on it. I always assumed it was the standard A518.
I was just getting ready for a converter and valve body upgrade for the tranny, now I am not sure what I have and what to order for.

Are you sure it's the O/D solenoid and not the neutral safety switch? I believe that switch has three wires...at least mine does. The neutral safety switch also controls the backups lamps...that's why three wires.
The connector plugs in on the driver's side of the OD housing. It plugs in toward the transmission, if that makes sense.
Last night I compared it to my dad's '92, definitely different.

And to further add to the confusion...
When McMopar had mine opened up, he found the VB had everything machined & ready for a lookup TC... just no wiring (inside)/plug (outside) to get it signal!
