Temp sensors for OD

Is there any reason to have the temp sensor on the block hooked up and the temp sensor on the tranny hooked up for OD? I jumped both of them and my OD finally works right without jumping in and out. Didn’t know if they could be left like that or if there is a benefit to having them hooked up.

thanks

From what I understand, the sensor in the line at the trans just kicks it out of overdrive once it gets too hot - and some say way too late. That's where my temp sensor is and I just manually turn off OD on hills etc when pulling. Not sure about the one on the block? Isn't there one that won't let it go into OD until it reaches a minimum temperature? Not much help here, sorry...

yah. The one on the block won’t let it shift in when it’s too cold

My buddy has 60k miles on his toggle switch OD with no temp sensors in circuit. I just switched mine to a footswitch about 1k miles ago when my tps took a crap.

I guess I don't see what the difference is whether I'm in 3rd or 4th gear while my trans comes up to temp? Maybe there is?

As for high temp cutoff, I never tow that hard and if I did I'd have a trans temp gauge 100%
