Tearing it down.

Well tomorrow is the day. I am tearing the motor down to find out the cause of a few problems. first, The radiator is losing water to an unknown location. And there is excessive blowby coming out the vent tube. The only thing is, is there is no performance loss at all. So, I will do a compression test first to see where all of the cylinders are, then take the head off and see if there is any apparent problems with the head gasket or cylinders and pistons. Then she will be down for a week to do the porting and pollishing. Is there anything else that anyone can point out that I may have missed. Mark Smith will be down next weekend to help put her back together again. I HOPE.

I'll either post a ora . No, I'm sure everything is ok. Hopefully she'll be ready for the Redding Ca. drag races.

Well, I got the compression tested. And after pulling the valve covers I noticed a lot of moisture and oil mix covering the inside top of the covers. I have not noticed any water in the oil, but this tells me where my water has been going. I'll get the head off and let you know more.

Hey Stomp, Doing great. No doudt I will be there.I'll give you a call. The lowest was 350, and the highest was 375. The head gasket did not show any obvious leaks, but from the moisture in the valve covers and on the bottoms of the head studs there is no doubt it was the head gasket. As for the blow-by, I'm now thinking that it might be the vacuum pump seal leaking. The reason I am thinking this, is there is a lot of vapor coming out of the tube, but no oil dripping from it. And when I launsh the truck real hard and get into the brakes, The pedal will pulsate really bad. Meaning that it jumps up and down real hard under the foot.
