Tailgate hinges

I recently just bought a bone stock 1989 d250 as a work truck. The truck runs beautifully but the body is rough. The biggest issue I have st the moment is the drivers side tailgate hinge is gone. I have searched online and wasnt able to find a replacement. I was going to get some steel pipe and weld a new hinge up but would rather have the original hinge. Anyone know where to get one?

Check with Oliver Foster, a member here on this forum, he has one of everything, and two of everything else.
Great guy, very helpful.

I am sure I could find a thrashed bed, that I could cut a hinge out of.

Or you could weld one up. I have seen a spare socket used out of someones tool box before as well.
It worked pretty well. I can not remember the size socket used.

Socket is a good idea. I guess a piece of steel pipe would work as well.

Is it the passenger side that has a flat spot for removal while the driver's side is slipover?

I used a socket welded to a large washer. Has worked well.

Thanks for the ideas. I think a socket would work better than pipe so I could get a better fit.

You're worried about fit? Oh Puleeze.
Seriously a piece of pipe the right size or slightly small will work fine. If it's a 1 ton, the drivers side hinge needs to be hollow for clearance lamp wiring.
