I'm trying to replace the clips on latch but I have this plastic thing in the way and I'm unable to pull the latch out. Anyone know how to get this plastic thing out without breaking it ? I've got the 3 screws out.

Never mind I think I got it. It looks like all one piece with the stainless and reflective backing.

I think theres a good fix for it in the sticky if your still interested.

 

If you are talking about the stainless steel trim that goes across the tailgate, it has a handful of screws on the otherside of the tailgate that need to be removed. I just replaced the keepers on my actuator rod to the latches. I picked up a set from the local parts merchant and broke one while doing the installation. Luckily I didn't need that one. Be careful reinstalling the screws that hold the trim. The plastic they screw into is old and brittle if it is like mine.
