T-Case Leak - Rear Seal

Hello all!

Like the title says, my T-case is leaking like crazy. On a recent 450+ mile drive it began to leak at some point on the road and lost 3/4 of a quart.
A little goes a long way...its everywhere.

Anyhow...how much of a pain is it to do this seal?

Its got that "seal housing" between the t-case body and the yolk. Do you have to remove the housing to press in the new seal or can I just remove the yolk, pry out the old seal, and tap in a new one?

Also, if anyone has a part number for the seal I'd greatly appreciate it.

Id look it up in my digital FSM but, of course, I left it back home.
Murphys Law I reckon.

Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, everyone!

Remove yoke Very hard to do unless you have a good impact .then remove the 5 bolt's that hold seal holder on then push seal out and repeat process backward's not that hard but takes some good power to get nut off .

Great, thanks!

I don't have an impact. Guess Ill have to get out my cheater pipes and eat some Wheaties.

Stupid question - but Id rather ask than mess something up - Is the yolk nut reverse thread?

Nope. Torque to 140ftlbs when reinstalling

IIRC Quad 4x4 had a nice Double lip seal, or actually a (2) seal setup that I used once with great results. Never removed the housing when I did mine, just yoke.

That's what I was thinking. I don't remember a retainer on the 205

Thanks for yalls input.
Got the seal changed yesterday.
Pretty simple.
The biggest pain was getting a socket big enough for the yoke nut.
Its a 1 - 5/16 if anyone was wondering.
Got it pulled, removed the old seal with a seal/race puller.
The new one tapped in as easy as could be.
Ive never had a seal go in that easy and evenly before.
...almost too easy...
But a 10 mile test drive afterwards and no leakage.

Thanks again for y'alls input.
