It won't make any HP, just lets you hear the turbo more.

I took mine out and got happy with the die grinder. I cut as much out as I could without sacrificing structure. Worked for me. You could also look up on the sticky about pump mods which are cheap and easy, but gauges are recommended first. Go with bigger than stock exhaust if you can to help keep egt's under control. The better it breathes, well, the better. Have fun!

yah i've tweaked the pump a little, dont plan on running her hard untill i get gauges and ive put a 5" pipe off the stock downpipe, not a whole lot, but its all i can afford for now! you know what they say, more flow, more GO!

Take the box out. You can leave the filter sit, or wire it up.

i wouldn't use the stock downpipe even with a 5" behind it. i know you said money's tight, but save that money and buy a true 4" downpipe. it'll lower EGT's

Can you post pics of your 5" system? I don't know how I would go about doing that.

he is not talking about putting a 5" turbo back like you want, just going from 3 to 5 after the t-case and as far as i know there is no way to put 5" turbo back on a first gen without mashing in the firewall and choppin stuff up arond the t-case.
