Supercharger

My Eaton M90 supercharger is coming in this evening, and I plan on mounting it in a “blow through” configuration. I am going to make brackets and mount it above the exhaust manifold and blow into the turbo. I will mount a vacuum gauge between them to assure the turbo doesn’t try to suck the guts out of the supercharger. If it does show any vacuum at all, I will put a spring loaded vacuum flap between the two that will tee into the BHAF tube. My belief is that if I can have 10-15PSI from idle I should really improve efficiency and drivability. My Stage IV hybrid is faster than stink once it finally spools, and the 16cm exhaust housing is a perfect balance for the compressor size, but they are seriously laggy at this altitude. I’m thinking this setup might make my truck a quivering, snarling, red hot ball of Diesel terror!

Mark, does that model have a Bypass valve? My M62 doesn and you an use vacuum to open it when the turbo decides to suck more.

2-stoke Detroits could be had with a turbo blowing into the supercharger.

If I'm not mistaken, all of the 2-stroke Detroits are that way.

No bypass on this one, but my two M62's also have the bypass like yours Jon. Scott, the reason Detroits are setup the other way is because the supercharger acts as a scavenge pump so the engine can run as a two stroke.

Unless you isolate the crankcase for each cylinder, you have to run a supercharger. If you isolate the crankcase you can use the downward stroke of the piston to force air through the intake port (like all two stroke motorcycle engines). Make sense?

You're going to need a whole lot of pulley to get 10-15psi at idle.....saw this truck at TS that was using the idler pulley to drive the blower. Wouldn't have thought it would work, but it seems to. Also, even if the blower does draw a vacuum, it shouldn't affect power much, the turbo will spin harder to make up for it.

Thanks for that link Jason, I was thinking about that same placement, just have to figure out how they did the idler.
I should have said 10-15psi at low RPM, not at idle.
Do you know how that truck performs?

Aw come on, the more they leaked the better they ran!!!

I'd like a General with an 8v92, twin turbos, 13 or 18 speed, set it up as an RV.

Do they make longer belts that the factory one? I don't have room for a dual pulley and I think I have a workable belt path worked out, but will need a longer belt for sure...

You can use some string and figure out how long you need. Then check the rib count and head down to your local parts store, most belts are measured in cm not inches.
