You'll need a kit to go along with the new CD player. It will have a mounting bracket and a wiring harness along with some other doodads. If you're thinking about new speakers, the fronts are 6x9 and the backs are 4x10.
thanks cb
i figured so since the heigth of the deck is so tall. mind if i ask
what type you have...if you've replaced yours already? I am looking at possibly ordering through crutchfield since i've had luck with them in the past. any input is much appreciated. thanks

Well im not sure about everyone else but mines a
kenwood-excelon kdc-X979 its about 500 bucks, but the higher versions of kenwoods wont skip when you hit the occasional bump in the road. there are several less exspensive versions that also have this feature.

Maybe I'm smoking crack, but I find the CD player in my truck useless unless I'm on the highway. In town, all those constant starts and stops keep me fiddling with the volume!
Maybe I shoulda used earplugs when riding my motorcycle for the past 16 years...

I have the CD player out of my old truck sitting in the basement. I've had this truck for nearly a year, I might never get tired of listening to the straight pipe. To answer your question, the easiest thing to do is visit Crutchfield's web site. Their prices are OK, especially since they include a mounting kit and wiring adapters at no extra charge, and their instructions are top-notch. I highly recommend them.
find a stereo that is listed as a 1.5 DIN. This will fit directly into the existing location. I personally have a Pioneer DEH-P77DH. It is a real nice unit that with the addition of a $12 harness, wired directly into the existing wiring.

thanks to all for your input! i've narrowed it down to a couple of units.
i am going for a am/fm tape head unit and a 10 or 12 disc shuttle. I sometimes
travel quite a bit and need my tunes to keep me going! Crutchfield defintely has
a great selection and great prices.

you can often get OEM cd players for $50 out of sebrings and avengers....that's what I always do, they have the same plugs and shape. Depending on the model it came out of you may have to cut off the mounting tabs, but they sit in there just fine without them
My kids are all grown up now so I yanked out the rear jump seats and placed 10" subwoofers mounted in a box. One on each side. That helps a lot in trying to cut down on the exhaust noise.
They fit perfectly to the point that I didn't even need to bolt them to anything, just slide right in and have stayed there for a year now. Gotta like that.
