I think your going have some wiring problems. I don't think it will bolt up the dash and fire wall on a 2nd gen are pretty different. I picked up a spare manual steering column for my truck a couple days ago. I have a spare auto column that I don't need anymore. I tried to PM you a couple times but I don't think it went through. PM me with your phone number and I'll call you about the column.

I tried helping him as he asked if I had a steering column for him. I offered to ship the column he needed for $165. I sent my phone number in every pm but he never called. I got frustrated when he started asking and repeating some of the same questions he had asked earlier in previous pms. I politely asked him to call before asking anymore questions to clear up any miscommunications. I haven't heard from him and now he has a column that isn't correct for the truck. I give up?

We had several PMs about the steering columns I have as well.
Several repeat questions, a little will you take less than your asking, followed by him buying the completely wrong steering column. That '96 steering column will not plug and play on a 1st gen, so I hope you got it for free.
I can think of at least three DTR'ers that offered him the correct steering column.
I give up.

There used to be notifications on this site whereas a moderator would post a note or sticky about a particular member. This note let people know of the difficulty or issues associated with that member. Bad sales deals, misrepresentations, poor communication, and other criteria were made known amongst the crew, which ultimately helped others to not make unfair or poor deals with that person.

By doing this, the person was either banned, ostracized, or ultimately cleaned up their act and treated others with respect during transactions between them.

I just tried to help answer questions and give him good options, and he goes and buys a '96 steering column rather than the one he needs. Just kinda a waste as that '96 steering column will look great on the shop shelf.
Sounds like he got lots of good info and several options, then ignores it all and does what he likes.
That is when I give up.

Every once in a while a guy like that comes along. It seems like the more you try to help the more it gives them fuel to go in the opposite direction.
I once had a guy(on another board) get miffed at me when he did something I told him wouldn't work and it didn't.

Some people want affirmation of the topic so they can proceed with their misconceptions.

How dare you speak the truth, and not expect a bashing afterwards ?

The guy even PM'd me asking the same question he posted at the start of this thread...Here's my response to it....

Hey Brian,

I do not believe you can use a steering column from a 2d Gen in a 1st gen. You may be able to scavenge a few pieces from it that would work on the 1st gen column?

But if you have your old column, and your handy, maybe you could tear down the two and see if there is any way to make a frankin-column from the two?

I PM'ed Brian a bunch of times about the column I had and got no response. He called me a yesterday and we figured out what he needed from me. I told him I would sell him a bare bones 1992 tilt column, steering wheel and the plastic piece the shifter goes through for $70 + shipping from Harrisburg Pa to him. I told him I would have to build a box for it and weigh it to figure out shipping cost. I spent time last night looking for the plastic piece, pulling the wheel off of the column, taking pics etc. I texted him the pics and asked if he wanted the stuff. No response. Now I see why.

It really irritates me when people waste my time. I had better things to do last night.

I wish him luck with his 1996 shaft that EVERYONE has told him won't physically fit.

Don't toss out that column. I'm looking for a bare bones auto column as well, but a local 1st gen'er is supposed to get getting an auto parts truck. If I don't get it from him I have PM'd with Vader as well about a bare column, if that don't work out then I would drop you a line Mr. Fusion.

I sent you pics via text to the number you called me from. I misunderstood you when you told me you would be up until 3 or 4 AM. Took that to mean you would be available. I'm working out shipping now. I'll get back to you soon.
