squealing belt
 

please help the other day i changed my oil and spilled a little on the belt
i cleaned it and it is still noisey so i cleaned all the pulleys with a wire brush and it didn 't work so i replaced the belt and cleaned all the pulleys again with lacquer thinner and still no good i have tried a new tensioner and still no good it just won't stop squeling

I'm not trying to be smart and I'm sure you already looked but are any of the pulleys out of alignment that would give you a squeal. The other option is get a commercial food grade belt dressing and spray your belt with that, we use that at work to help with a sloppy or squealing belt. We get ours through Grainger but I'm sure there is some place cheaper.

While it's running hit the belt with a good shot of brakekleen. You probly have oil soaked into the belt and it may take a few cycles of brakekleen-dry-brakekleen-dry to get all of the oil off the belt and pullys. Be carful when you do this that you don't get any brajkekleen in youy eyes from it slinging off the belt. Burns like crazy.

i did that also and also have tried conditioner but it only lasts until the truck sits over night, the gates belt i spilled oil on was replaced a week ago with a dayco and a new tensioner set up and no change then i cleaned all the pulleys with a small wire brush and laquer thinner blew out the pulley grooves with air and still noise also disconected the alternator field wires to see if the alt was loading down and causing the slipping it wasn't all the pulley seem to line up fine and the belt tracks straight
