Spring Bushings
Spring Bushings
Hello everyone,
I need to put new bushings in the front springs of my 92 W250 4X4 1 ton, can a guy press out the old ones and press new ones in or do I have to aquire new springs? Also, when I do put new pins and bushings in there, I'd like to drill a grease passage into the pins so that I can grease the thing. Has anyone ever done this? Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Yes you can replace the bushings. the old rubber ones can be tough to get out sometimes. as far as grease goes you can buy greaseable ones. they have cross drilled bolts with zerk fittings in the head of the bolt. I cant remember who makes them right now i will look. most 4X4 shops will know what you are talking about when you ask for greasable spring bushings.

Front are a piece of cake to change. You may need some flame to burn out the rubber bushings from the front. Shackle side should come right off without a problem. Rear springs are a different story.
