Speedo Dead but odometer still works

Well its finally happened the speedo on my 91.5 decided it had enough bouncing around and its officially dead, the Odometer and trip meter still work. So Id assume the VSS and wiring up to the dash are still fine? I pulled the speedometer out of the dash and couldnt see any worn gears, is there something else I should be checking? Appreciate any help

There are a couple ground wire splices in harness that could cause you trouble. Did you check for 12V, signal voltage, and a good ground at the VSS plug?
