I posted my thoughts about this thread as there was so much sarcasm and un-truths, that a NEW 1st gen owner MIGHT get the wrong idea about what would work well for their truck.
I come to DTR to learn about ways to care for and safety upgrade my 1st gen trucks, which I love. I would like to keep my 1st gens on the road for the rest of my life. I would also like to hand at least one of them down to my daughter to enjoy and remember the days of wrenching in the shop / going to car shows with her Dad.
A thread like this is hard to understand what is good information, and what is a joke. It is hard to judge the written word for humor...Take for example. Is Mr. Fonder REALLY running 100% antifreeze in his '03, or is it just to make a joke at Mark? Do cool burning incandescent REALLY use less energy than LEDs? Can you really use 100% antifreeze as a lubricant for ball bearing Garrett turbos rather than oil? I have owned one of these Dodge trucks since '94 and driven one everyday since. I find it hard to understand what is real info. on this tread. What about a new guy to owning these? Try to remember when you where just learning to work on trucks. There are lots of young kids trying to fix up an old Dodge truck.
Sorry I broke up the laugh a minute post. I will just go back to ignoring posts like this and read ones that actually have information I find helpful in the up keep of 1st gen trucks.
I have stuff to do in the shop to keep my old 1st gen plowing snow as it just keeps dumping snow here...Good Day.

Apprentice, no. I work on all kinds of Mopar stuff at my Chevy dealer deep in the valley of the ghetto. What you see in there is a poor little field mouse that was spinning the turbo had a heart attack and died. Then there was a massive backfire from the grounded plug wire, spun the turbo backwards and threw that poor little mouse in front of the compressor wheel. Thanks for the offer up yonder, I would however, have to quit shoveling sunshine in my flip flops and shorts to make the journey.

Ok, we need to stop and think about what we post guys.................. Banter back and forth is fine, but this is getting to the point it is becoming personal.
And personal is not good................
