I run a grade 70, 5/16 chain through the drivers side mount and around the crossmember which has kept the original stock mounts together sled pulling this season. It stopped my hood stack (which has 2" side clearance) from hitting the hood with a strap holding the motor.

Someone needs to come up with a bolt in mount which goes solid under severe load, I only have so much time and energy to invent stuff though.

Thats good to know cuz I just put a 6in hood stack on this truck and man when you rev it up it moves alot. So i need to fix it before i put the hood on.

The reason your motor is torquing is one of the mounts is probably broke or oil soaked mush. I have had a few that the rubber came unglued from the steel. They look perfectly normal until you lift the engine, then you see the gap.

Hey guys....i also have been having problems with my engine rocking over bumpy ground and clutch jumping while taking off in second....I've ordered new motor mount bushings, but i had to haul wood today and was kinda nervous about it till i got the new bushings in. I found this thread this morning and i saw the rachet strap mentioned, so i hooked one to my rear engine picking eye and the down to the frame, on the driver side. What and improvement!!!! No more engine thumping or rocking while twisting across waterways or bumpy pastures. It also all but eliminated transfer case shifter rattle down the highway and no more jumpy clutch! Much smoother overall operation.

So how tight are you guys cinching the tie downs down? I would think you would want some play in it.....? I have a few old 10k straps that have broken I could use one on the motor and one on the trans. What do you think?

Mine was just one of the small red cargo ratchet straps, i had cut it short for previous use and it wasn't much good for anything else..lol. I cinched her tight as i could, i figure that little 1 inch strap will break before anything else does! I reved it using the throttle under the hood, and the engine will still torque to the side....just took all the nonsense out.

I have my engine chained. On the driver side, bottom of the block welded to the frame with a half inch of slack so the engine can still move, no problems yet had it like that for a few weeks now, I was popping off the intercooler boot on the turbo side from the engine twisting too much.
