Silly wiring problem
Silly wiring problem
The map and indoor cab light in my truck has a bad ground or something in the circuit. Before, they would only turn on when the passenger side door was open, not both sides. Then one day the driver side door would turn them on as well. I think I went over a bump or something yesterday, and the circuit grounded out, because now the lights won't shut off at all! even with both doors closed. I have just been disconnecting the battery overnight, but how should I go about troubleshooting this? I am not very good with electrical, but am I right in assuming that it's a grounding issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The dome lights are controlled by grounding. There are three points that control the dome light, map light and cargo light. Chances are the wire on your driver's door switch is loose a shortage to ground. You might also check your headlight switch. By turning it all the way to the maximum brightness of the instrument panel lights and just a little more also grounds out the lights. I know the headlight switch seems like a stupid thing but I've seen it be the problem. Just my two cents, Mike.
