Shudder, Shudder!!!

When I take off with my '93 w350 w/518 you can feel a shudder in the truck. If you floor it from a standing start it is really evident. We just put a new carrier bearing in and it seems to me that the rubber is really soft in it. I can move the driveline 3/4"- 1" when I crawl under it shake it. Does anyone know what to check to fix this shudder? Thanx!

Put a 1" spacer between the carrier bearing and the frame to straighten the drive line to start. I also made some traction bars for my trucks axle wrap that helped when I'm towing. Or it could be your tranny.

Is the shudder only from a start and gone by 15MPH or so?

Typically, that is a driveline related shudder, indicating something with either the rearend, tcase output shaft, u-joints, or angles. As was mentioned, try a spacer on the carrier first. Does it change with or without a load on it? Check for slope in the pinion and the output shaft of the tcase, too.

One way to rule out the trans, is load it up more(power brake) on take off. if it were the low clutches, it wouldn't go away, it would get worse.
