shimmy

I am on my 2nd first generation cummins W250. I have the getrag 5spd and am experiencing a shimmy and whining noise from the drivetrain when I take off in 2nd gear. I have close to 180,000 on it and I bought it with 155,000 last year on the west coast. Is this a clutch issue or tranny? The truck was used to pull trailers before judging from the rails i took out of the bed. I have never experienced any clutch slippage. Any thoughts? The truck is great and rust free and want to get it back to tip top shape.

maybe a U joint? or bad tranny mount?

Maybe a bit of wheel hop. Did you do any pump tweeking?

I have not tweaked anything yet. the tranny mount could be a possibility. I also have issues with the 4wd. Rides pretty rough when 4wd is engaged. U joints seem tight on frt shaft. transfer case might be hosed.

Check the engine and trans mounts.
