is it a standered(getrag) if so theres a snap ring that hold the shifter there and it a pita go get it seated all the way in! its best to have to people when you put it back in.
one to push and one to install the snap ring!

Mine did that about 2 days after I got it. The shift lever slips over a stub that fits in the trans, and there's a rubber isolater between them. The lever pulled off the stub is all that happened. Stuff it back on there and crimp it good with a big pair of vise grips, it'll stay.

I keep hearing about this snap ring on the Getrag. Mine doesn't have it. It has the ball with vertical slots cut into both sides for 2 screw pins but otherwise the top has to come off the tranny for me to get the shifter out. This is a big pain because I need to fix the shifter and the only way I can see to do that is to drop the tranny.

Were the early GetRags made without snap rings?
