Rocken Tech 14mm...
Apparently I am a little behind the times, because I just found that KTA sold his last 14mm pump head a while back, so it looks like Rocken Tech is the only choice now, and I have heard of failures....who's tried their stuff, and with what type of success?
A few years ago i had some work done by Santa Rosa Fuel Injection(they are near Rocken Tech). I asked him for a quote on building a 13mm pump (p7100) for me. His first question was, "Are you going to use Bosch P&B's or the stuff from Rocken Tech". He did not recommend them at all. Said he had experienced quality issues with them and would rather not build a pump using them. That was a couple of years ago and products do improve.
No problem Jason, it might give you a little hope. Mine spec'ed out at the same rpm but id have to double check. Besides, why do you need another 14mm head? Bulding another pump?
I have no secrets...fresh built engine, new/different injectors, new turbos...
Haven't made my mind up on how bring down my AIT's yet, either going to upgrade my intercooler or switch to air to water.
Figured if im going to put all the time and effort on the stuff listed above, I might as well lay it all on the table.

I've thought about doing a 14/4mm pump, but it's mostly cause I got a few PM's on various sites about me running a 14mm pump and how it has lasted....I figured that I would try to get a feel about how the 14mm Rocken's are doing since I am getting a few messages.
Cool to hear about the awesome new ideas Josh, let us know when you start to get it back together!

I ran a 14mm for a while with a set of 6x16's. Lost the pump getting ready for a truck pull, governor drive rubbers shredded and the pump ran off on me. Mechanical shutdown is all that stopped it. Pump head is still good, but I lost 2 injectors shortly after that one tip broke off in #6 and then #5 cracked.
My big pump has a rocken tech h/r on it. Its been through a lot too. Giles blew the pump up on the bench doing too high of rpm testing with a larger cam plate (destroyed cam plate, rollers and roller cradle) but the h/r survived, it's been upwards of 4500rpm on a truck sled pulling (stock cam plate) and it has 5k miles of me driving it before I took it off. I'd say a lot of it has to do with pump setup. But any VE that is pushing big fuel is not going to be TRULY reliable. Giles even told me my custom 12mm pump is not going to last forever. The pumps just can't take the stress. The more they push the more stress there is. But now I have a little TDI to drive for work and the truck gets 50 miles a week and I drive it pretty nice so it should last me a long time. With the amount of money I have spent/plan to spend on big VE power, a p-pump is looking mighty fine right about now. I really like the VE though.
Sounds like the 14mm pumps are not doing so well on sled pullers because they pull so much rpm, i wonder how long they would last on a drag truck or daily driver that doesnt see more than 3500rpm. I am currently running a fass platinum with a fuel cooler on my 12mm pump to try and keep it cool.
Whats the max tempature the ve's can handle? and is there anyway to run a temp sensor?
Also im fixing to gut the shut off solenoid how many psi of a gauge do i need to read it? what normal and what high?
