Resistance in Fuel Screw

The other day while messin with the IP I had a helluvatime backing off the fuel screw...it literally felt stuck, as if something was holding enough pressure on the inside end to prevent it from turning...once I managed to back it off a quarter turn it spun fine, so I backed it out a bit more to look at the threads, and they looked fine, but now I can not turn it any more past that last setting, there is a definite stopping point there somewhere...
I dont remember hitting any such resistance the last time I turned the screw in....there is about 1/2" of screw left sticking out the back of the pump....is this normal for the screw to bottom out like this without runaway?

Yeah mine did that. Follow the sticky and add some welding to the end of it and problem solved

The screw will only go in up to the o ring and then it stops if you add some length to the tip you are making it longer.

Dont mean to hijack, but i cranked myne in pretty good, about 1 turn after i felt a little resistance. I have a hex end on my screw, so i was able to crank it in. Will this hurt anything?
thanks.

ryan10-looking at the pics in the sticky on extending the fuel screw makes things a little clearer....there is an o-ring in the middle of the screw, inside the pump, which causes the resistance, I would think forcing the screw in would result in a smushed o-ring, which would probably result in a leak of some sort....am I correct here guys?, does the o-ring slide forward in a bore in the pump housing and then eventually bottom out?

Nope, forcing it WILL result in a broken screw, they only go in so far, then stop on the shoulder where the o-ring is held. The o-ring is captive in the middle of the screw, no harm will come to it.
