Red Oak Diesel Injectors reveiw

I just bought a set of the Red Oak Diesel Injectors for my 93 cummins and this is what i have found thus far.

EGTs did increase by 100 degrees
no increase on fuel millage thus far
I have notice an increase of about 5-7 pounds of boost
had to turn up my idle becz it was too low after installing the injectors
quieter running motor
no smoke or haze except a small puff of black smoke if i hammer the pedal

I called Stan to ask why i havent seen an increase in my fuel millage and the first thing he asked was what kind of trany i had. I told him i had an auto trany and he told me that was my problem.
the auto tranys do not have a locking torque converter and its there where the autos loose the MPG becz there isnt a true transfer of power from motor to trany to rear wheels, If i had a manual trany than I would have seen an increase of 3 MPG easy. The manual tranys have a locking torque converter.
I decided to call Goerend Trany in Iowa to see about putting a locking torqu converter in the truck and only way I can do it is if i do a 94 locking torq swap. most shops wont touch it but they would do it for about 8,000.

Well thats what i have learned hope it helps someone out there.

Do you have any other mods? Fill out your signature when you can that way we know what you have done? How much were the injectors and what size are they?

opps there we go and here is a link to the injectors on ebay.

Ebay ads not allowed on DTR

umm i got an email from him a while back and this si what he said about the injectors size

custom bosch injector same size as a 370 marine injector but they use a sackless nozzle valve assembly so they do not produce smoke.

huh I must have miss understood Stan when we were talking then. hmm All i can say is he was very clear about how the torque converters on the autos slipped too much and thus costs mpg. He did say how ever that the three areas that improve mpg were injectors, timing, and fuel quality.

So i am going to bump the timing an 1/8 and i ordered the stanadyne fuel additive. See what happens after that.

In a broad sense. clutches are "torque converters", because they convert the torque from the motor, to the input shaft of the tranny. They just call them clutches. If they are not slipping, they transfer all the torque...Mark

This mileage was in 08' with a stock converter, and tranny. Going from Tuscon AZ to Mesa AZ is technically all down hill. All I've ever done to the truck is listed in my signature.

Good luck.

I'm not sure exactly how much I bumped it...bout an 1/8" if I remember correctly. I also forgot to mention I've 3.54 rear end too. I asked "wanna" about what exhousing to get. I was told the 12cm...and I've not regretted one bit. My best towing mileage was towing a 29' fifth wheel too.

Regards

Don't know what happened to my truck signature....it just disappeared!

A 12cm would benefit a manual trans. far better than an auto trans. I think for an auto, you wouldn't wanna go smaller than a 16cm otherwise it might choke some flow at the top end.

Nope, they do a similar job but very different in terms of definition.

A torque converter is defined as a hydraulic device or hydraulic coupling, a clutch is an engaging/disengaging device.

So in actuality a torque converter could be seen more as a clutch than the a clutch as a T.C.

Just trying to clarify.
