I replaced the spindles because of bad grooves. I pressed in new races and bearings on hubs also. Installed spindle nuts and washer according to spec. with socket. I cant get snap ring on end of the axle shaft that holds locking hub assembly. I tried pulling out axle from center chunk. I took apart and reassembled axle nuts twice..Anyone have any ideas what to check.

Pics would be nice.

I think the issue you are having has nothing to do with the bearing set up.

Are you talking about the small snap ring on the end of the stub shaft? Like in this pic?

Are you sure that the bearing races seated correctly? It seems that that may cause the spindle to not enter completely. That or wrong part...Mark

Did you install the nylon thrust washer that goes between the stub shaft (by the u-joint) and the spindle upside down? The champfer on the inside diameter must face the u-joint. Did you install the outer seal in that same area properly? Did you seat the needle bearing fully into the spindle bore so that there is enough room for the inner seal?

If you have a new outer seal on the stub shaft, it can be a little "springy" and hard to compress while you are installing the snap ring, but it sounds like you might have something more serious than that.

I will look at nylon to confirm direction. I measured the both races from other hub. It appears to be same depth.

FWIW, the races should be solidly seated to the stop. It makes a distinctly different sound.when seated, when using a hammer and drift to set them, but you said that you pressed them in...Mark
