Rearched Springs

I have a spare set of leaf springs. Is it worth getting them rearched? It's a lot cheaper than a new set, but I don't want to waste money. If I do that, should I tell them 2" over stock?

I would vote yes. After talking to a spring shop about doing the rear of mine, I was told that the only proper way to re-arch a spring pack is to add an additional leaf, otherwise it will just sag.

Wink Many Many Years Ago

Back in the dark ages, when a lift kit was really a custom-built suspension, I took my, then brand-new, 1978 Chevrolet K-20 4X4 to Louisville Auto Spring, on the corner of 15th and Broadway.

They removed my front springs, which had a negative arch and only two leaves, rearched them six inches over stock, and added four leaves, making them a six-leaf set.

It drove better from the first minute that I left their shop.

That truck is sitting out in the yard, right now, with those same springs still on it, with over 400,000 rough cattle-trailer pulling miles on it, and numerous off-road adventures.

I would do it again, without hesitation.

It drives better and rides WAY better than it ever did with the stock set-up.

I did it on the front of my 92 and added 2 new ones. Works fine. I have it just over stock.
