rear E-Brake cables

I need to do my rear E-brake cables this weekend and was wondering what they are like to do. Any special tools I should round up first?

First, the wheel, axle, bearing lock-nut(s), and bearings/hub have to come off.

Special tool required = 2-9/16 axle-nut socket.

Once all that is out of the way, general brake service tools will get the various brake components out of the way for replacing the cables.

I highly recommend that you dis-assemble the star-wheel adjusters and clean the threads with a wire-wheel on a grinder-motor.

Take a three-cornered triangle file and deepen the teeth on the star-wheel.

Put a generous coating of Anti-Sieze on the threads of the star-wheel adjusters.

The rest will be pretty much obvious.

Make sure you order the rear cables and the front if needed for the correct wheel base truck, napa took (2) tries to get me the correct one for extended cab long bed.

I've started using my digital camera before and after jobs like this, first to get it back together right, and after to admire the look with new parts. Half-way through the other side I started wondering if I'd got the adjuster cable just right on the first side, but the pic saved me pulling it apart again to check.
