Hey all, so the RC has been sitting for way to long and I noticed the other day the frame is starting to scale. I just sprayed it last year with fluid film and the guy that had it sprayed it with chainsaw lube. I'm going to have to take a day off work and air needle all of that scale off and hopefully it's not too bad.

It sits in a barn with concrete floors so maybe the moisture is killing it through the concrete? Should I lay a tarp down for long term storage? I do start and drive it around the lawn to get the oil pushed around. Would chainsaw oil do this? I power washed it last night and back into the garage it went.

I have used Chain saw bar oil thinned down with some diesel fuel before.
It works great. I try to clean the frame the best I can before I oil it down though as otherwise the trapped salt and such still does damage.

Should be fine sitting on concrete. It's when they sit in tall grass that the moisture never goes away. Fact is you don't live in the desert according to your sig so there is always going to be moisture in the air especially THIS summer.

I'm just looking for options, the galvanize coating I used years ago is finally starting to peel on my truck (W250) and I've been spraying cheap black paint over it. I've heard of guys melting wax toilet bowl rings with linseed oil and spraying their rigs. When work slows up I'm going to try to work on it this winter. The little VW golf works well and gets good mpg but man is it a tight fit, haha.
