Quick stud question.

I torqued my studs down to 145lbs. Started at 35 and worked up in 25lb increments till 125, then went in 5 lb increments.

My question is, I bottom tapped the block and installed the studs hand tight. Then dropped the head on and began tq'ing. Someone later told me I should have backed the studs out off bottom some before tq. Is this true? Will this cause me problems?

I used to just call hotroddiesels with these questions but am now staying away from their. So now its up to the good ole 12v'ers to give me insight.

Studs are always hand tight.

More often than not, hand-tight or looser will turn in (tighten) a little as you torque things up.
