Question about my new Hx-35/12cm exhaust housing

I bought a turbo from the classifieds. It may be from a 24 valve. The reason I'm thinking this is because of the way it looks. It looks different from my stock one, and I don't think it will bolt straight up, because it has an elbow on the end of the exhaust housing. Here are my questions.

1) Can this still be hooked up to my 1st gen with some sort of modification?

2) How do I set the acuator on this turbo?

3) Are there any tips that you'll can think of, that I might find helpful?

Thanks, Tony

You can swap out the backing plate for one that comes straight out, but the oil return tube may not line up right.

Depending on the year of the turbo, you should be able to remove the elbow with the band clamp???

Yes, I have the elbow off, but my downpipe will not bolt straight up to the exhaust housing.

How so? The wastegated exhaust housings require u to move the downpipe rearward approx an inch. From what I remember once u remove the elbow it should come together with a v-band clamp.

What exactly is "different" about em? (what doesnt seem right)

The exhaust housing on my stock one is round. The wastegated one is not round, on the end. Just kind of.... oblong. I don't have a pic. May be I can get a pic.

I went and looked at the exhaust housing. The stock one is round where it connects to the downpipe. The wastegated one isn't round, it jaunts out... sortof rectanglar to allow the waste gate to work. Then the elbow connects to it and then the elbow's end that connects to the downpipe is round.
Of course this won't work on my downpipe.

You need the adapter from the housing to the down pipe. It bolts on. You have a newer HX-35. It bolts on to the down pipe instead of a v clamp go and get the adapter to v clamp. 12 cm housings need that part for older trucks. That's why you will have to move your down pipe back about 1 inch is because of the adapter plate. If you need help finding one let me know I think I will be able find one.

I did some checking, and you are correct. What I need according to HTT Turbo is a "V Band Outlet" for an HX-35. The cost is somewhere around 90.00

If someone knows where I can get one cheaper, or if someone has one they don't need let me know.
