yes..

those were the 1st set of mirrors I looked at .. but the would have covered the entire vent window..

I like my power mirrors which is why I was thinking about the Ford ones.

You can get both manuel and powered 2nd/3rd gen mirrors. Powered cost a little more. $300-ish each from Dodge. [yuk] There's also a set or two of aftermarket ones floating around, try JC Whitney, Rock Auto or Partstrain. Probably not as good a quality, but how bad I don't know. Still, @ $100 each it's a much cheaper option. ;)
Unless you can find a good set at the wreckers.

So, if anybody was wondering what a superduty mirror on our trucks look like, wonder no more. I just robbed the work truck of one to get an idea of how it could look on there.

Apologies for the bad photoshop work to get the stock mirror out of the way.

Here is how it sits in the wing window area

I was thinking about cutting up the housings and making them a bottom mount like the current 4500 chevy trucks. Quick p-shop showing what I mean. Now there are rv mirrors out there already like this, but **** they want some $$$ for them.

My thought on the single arm mount is that all you could see in it is a big blur, with the way the 1st gens vibrate anyhow.

Yup good point!!

What rims do you have on your truck, Gots-a-sol?

I was just wondering that too. I think they're H2 or H3 rims... I've seen then before but can't remember where. [dummy]

I like the look of the Ford mirrors, but I don't like how it covers the vent window. That's just my preference. Think I'll stick to the 2nd gen ones. ;)

Thanks for posting the pic, Gots-a-Sol, good to know what they look like mounted up. [coffee]

Yes, hummer h2 wheels. I think they look great on the older body style trucks and the fact they can be found cheap is big plus. (I paid $60 for this set, they were sitting in a corner at a shop collecting dust)

I think I might just go with the 'west coast' style mirrors and use the factory base as the lower point. Less holes to drill. Plus they make them in power/heated/lighted versions these days. They would fit the body style of the truck better than the new body style mirrors I imagine.

I went the same route with mine.

H2 Hummer rims and I like the look a lot

Towing home one day I blew a tire and the tread ripped off and smashed rear of bed :( but luckily we were all safe

and since my tires were 16.5 i could not find any decent load E tires.. so I upgraded to some 17" rims and some load E tires

Bruiser- do you have any pics of the mirror mounts for the blue truck in the pic above? I want to see how clean the weld bracket are on this truck.

The wheels and mirrors look awsome. Also, on the pics of the black truck i noticed the cab lights. Are those second or third gen to? If so how good did they fit because ive been looking for a cab light upgrade and those looked really good.[guitar]

they were 2nd gen.. I still have them and they will be on the 4 door this winter :)

they fit great, but I had to move them back onto top of roof area away from drip rail so they would fit the roof contour
