pump timing problem
Hey yall have a question about how to time the injectin pump
I just had the pump off to reseal tappet cover got everything goin bled the lines I'm getting fuel to injectors but it's not firing my guess is its out of time and I'm not sure how to time it this is first time I've ever had the pump off so I'm new to this stuff if anybody has any answers I'd appreciate it thanks

Also when I put the pump back on I put it right back were it was but when I was tightened the nut for the front of pump shafts it started getting tight and made sounds like the pump shafts was slipping but then the nut started to tighten and shaft wasn't moVing does it sound like timing issue or did I break somethjng f?
The VE injection pumps don't require any special timing. As long as your gears are timed properly, that is what is the most important, then all you do is line up the key ways and install.
Are you sure the woodruff key was secure and in place before you tightened up the nut on the IP shaft? That key can sometimes be a real PITA to get in and lined up.
I've had a few IP off for reseals, and I've had a couple that took me a couple hours to get everything perfect and to my liking.

Idk I'm guessimg it was lined up it went in easy and the nut tightened but once it started getting a little tight the shaft moved a little and made a noise then I tight ed a little more got tight and it did same thing then I tried again and the shaft didn't spin and nut got tight

Grab your $10.00 HF digital caliper and measure the slot. Width's are pretty standard, as are lengths. You could probably guess close enough with a tape measure.l
Well that would be your problem then...shaft was not locked into the timing gear. Doooh!
Use a bunch of bearing grease on and around the shaft and woodruff key....it might just grab the key if it comes loose. I know it's saved my butt a couple times.
