Pump Questions

Up here in AK it gets cold. Real cold. As a result we run a lot of # 1 for long periods of time. Most service stations switch the fuel from #2 to #1 in early september and don't change back until end of march or april.

My question is this: Since the VE pump is lubed by fuel, would it benefit by having a greater fuel supply from the lift pump even though #1 isn't the greatest lube?

If your just worried about lube id use an additive.

I always run additive anyways. In the winter, I double it up as well.

amsoil makes a great diesel additive i use it in my own truck

A high pressure and more volume pump might help some, but Not as much as a good fuel additive.

I wouldnt think it would help it out any. If there is not very much lubricity in the fuel, shoving more thru it doesnt change anything. Since you already run additives, I think you would be fine.

It was just a thought. Back when I had a garage I would run #2 Almost year round and not worry to much about fuel system lube. No garage now no choice but to run the #1. Additive is my friend!

If the stock diaphram pump wears out I'll probly put a piston pump conversion on. I hear that they work better and also help the VE run better as well.
