Pump Problem

I have a 92 Dodge W-350 4x4 with an automatic. I bought the truck about a year and a half ago with no time to play with it. It has always idled a bit high about 875 to 900 rpms. So now I have time to play with it and fought the proverbial idle screw and backed it off all the way not even touching the throttle lever and it still doesn't idle down. So turned the fuel pin while playing with it and turned the fuel screw up 2 1/2 rounds with no change in the idle. Very little power power gain either. So whats your thoughts? Not enough fuel pressure? Return line stopped up? Pump problems? Getting a fuel pressure gauge tomorrow to check pressure. Any other ideas?

If you backed out the idle screw, you probably need to re-adjust the throttle linkage rod- loosen both ends, and screw it out just like a turnbuckle.

Just because you turn in your full powr screw doesnt mean you will see an increase in idle. You should have seen a noticeable power increase, though. Checking fuel supply is a good idea.

With an auto, it may not be transferring the extra power. If that's the case, you wont see a difference.

Check to make sure you are getting full throttle travel. You might also want to swap the throttle rod with the return spring that gives you better throttle response and adjustability. You should notice a change in the way it acts if you turned in the power screw and I would also suggest you do the 3200 gov spring if you haven't that alone make a huge difference.

Yea I did all of the above Roughstock & Free89W350 but not the 3200 RPM gov spring. Bought an infrared point and shoot tach to double check the stock tach and the stock tach is close. I messed with it for a couple of hours today and no luck "well bad luck" the throttle shaft seal started leaking lol. Oh well buy a 14mm head assembly and rebuild kit and get at it. Need to get injectors too maybe build a twin turbo setup. Thanks for your input.

I had to delete mine as well, because it made me look like a crazy person.

Naw you were just tryin to help. I've sure had to scratch the ole noggin on this one. I have the 3200 gov spring in the tool box waiting on the 14 mm head assembly and the rebuild kit and a Denny T fuel pin. I've turned the fuel screw from 1 turn then 2 turns ect. all the way to bottom and no change in RPM or very little power gain. Turned the fuel pin just for kicks 1/8 turn at a time and very little power loss or gain. All this after doing the original tune up. Hmmm yea i'm scratchin the head.
