Pump issues

So it has been awhile and I took a break from working on the truck but

I finally got the truck to start after resealing the ve pump my issues now are I have no throttle. It just idles and then if I pump the the throttle a few times it starts to run away.

92smokin blacky looked at the pump and it seemed to pump good.

I am lost.

Any ideas--------[dummy]

Did you have the pump completely apart or only the top removed to reseal it?

Fuel control lever inside the pump bent or binding?

Yes

Throttle shaft indexing?

jimbo486 05-28-2013 06:21 AM

That being the case... just as ClassA said. I would check that governor/fuel control lever ball detent is indexed with the metering sleeve correctly and that the assembly is not bound somehow.

Same thing mine did when i screwed up the throttle indexing. Didnt mean to. Cleaned my parts with brake cleaner after i marked the indexing with a sharpie. Soon as i seen dripping black marker i knew i was in for a long night.

Indexing can do funny things. Mine wouldnt start at all till i hit the gas. Itd die if i let off the gas. Then if i pumped the gas pedal while it gas runninf it would rev itself out to 4 reand then id have to shut it off and listen to the shrill noise of a turbo spinning fast while the oil pressure was falling.

Just play with it, youll get it

K it runs it revs up to about 3300 rpm with 3600 rpm spring but at 2200ish it seems to load up.

It has the m and h pin and Dynamic Timing Advance my new issues is that it now diesels on shut down and my egts are high. do i need to retart the pump.

The M&H spacer is made to function best with the pump timed to bone stock settings. The beauty of the spacer is it allows you to keep the VE pumps great low end torque, which is usually compromised when you give it the static 1/8" bump, but with the spacer still makes more power up at higher RPM's .
