pump has been tweaked
i'm not sure how to react just yet. i turned the fuel screw in until the RPM's just started to hang then backed it out a 1/4 of a turn. i'm just staying on the safe side since i drive daily. my idle screw is nearly non existent. there might only be 2 or 3 threads sticking out
. however, the throttle is very, very sensitive! i'm going to have to learn how to drive all over again. from starting in 2nd gear, when the RPM's reach about 2500, it feels like it pulls more on it's own without me moving the pedal at all. sort of makes me think it wants to run away. shifting will take some learning. i have to be out of the throttle almost all the way before i depress the clutch pedal. otherwise, RPM's will jump due to the sensitive throttle. i've read this is normal for most pumps to react like this. but to be honest, i'm almost afraid to really put my foot into it. even though i'm not used to it, it just doesn't feel right. any thoughts or advice about all this to encourage me a bit?

that's what i now plan on doing. my thinking is that when the RPM's started to hang meant that it was VERY close to runaway. and since i only backed it off a 1/4 of a turn, it's still close enough that it wants to hang in the higher RPM range. i don't feel the "pull" until it reaches about 2500RPM and i mostly feel it in 2nd. it's a bit of an uneasy feeling to be honest. i think another 1/4 or 1/2 a turn will tame it enough to make me comfortable with it.
I ran with mine at 1/2 back from runaway for 2 yrs until I got my new sticks...
Now I'm back 1 1/2 turns - mostly trying to cut the smoke and bring the mileage back up a little.
