Its all very heavy. Take the shifter off. Seperate the T/C and trans. Get a trans jack.

you dont have to the rear valve cover hits the fire wall just slightly and its easy to do if your on concrete.

why are you changing them?

dont not just unbolt the shifter, pull the snap ring that holds it in the shift tower.

then to remove out from under the truck if sitting on the tires, jack the truck up on the fram rail with another jack so you dont have to unload your trans off the jack to pull from under the truck

I'm changing them because the 92 is my work truck and the trans started howling and the t/c jumps out of low range. the 93 i picked up for 500.00 and drove it home from a moblie home company it was and still is very rough.the company put a new trans from dodge in it about a year before i got it.one of the guys said they paid like 2800$ for the trans.the howling trans will last a long time in the farm, wood truck thanks guys Ron ps. I have a 92,93, 94,06 all DODGE DIESELS well the 06 is the wifes for now LOL

while you have the noisy one out check the preload, mine growled in first at idle and third at light throttle then when i had the trans out to fix the shift fork we checked to see how much movement the input shaft had, which was too much,(move around visably by hand) re-preloaded it and no more growl
