Propane Injection
Has anyone ever used it on their 1st gen?
Im thinking about saving up for one.
Im not wanting to do it so much for the performance aspect but the fuel economy part of it.
Any pros or cons? Any recomendations as far as what brand to use or what to do and what not to do?
ANY thoughts on this would be great. Thanks

I had an excellent talk with Wannadiesel at the first gen meet in KY about propane. he said that with a near stock truck it would be work well. There are some pros and cons of it. You can make the setup yourself with parts from a hardware store. i was actually thinking about it today. See if youcan get his input on it.
I dont think if you bought a kit that you could justify it just for mileage. You have to consider, say a Bd kit $600 or so, their tanks are around $5-600, though you could use a regular bbq tank if you could find the right regulator to go on it. Then, not saying that youll use much, but you have the cost of the propane. Ive considered it as a power/mileage booster, but at $1000?....
Making it however....

On a truck with relatively stock timing and fuel it is perfectly safe - assuming you are using an off the shelf kit. Lots of fuel and timing with propane = popped head gasket at best, cracked pistons at worst. Also, liquid propane into motor = very bad! If you are running a forklift cylinder you need a vaporizer. Don't run the system on a cold engine, you will push out the head gasket.
I work for a propane company and am allowed to fill my BBQ tanks free but there is not a propane system on my truck - if that tells you anything.
You will burn approximately the same amount of propane as you save in diesel, so unless it only costs you $10 to get your BBQ tank filled it's not going to save you any money.
