pre1981 front clip on a post1981 truck

Quick question
Is it possible to swap the front clip from a Truck Built before 1981 and put in on a truck built after 1981
for example putting a 1972 front clip on a 1985 crewcab
i like the round headlights of the pre1981's and im hoping this is possible.
if anyone knows for sure and can give me an answer thatd be great.

Thanks A1C Bernard

The sheet metal and whatnot will bolt on. However, the pre 91.5 setups wont accept a stock intercooler. There are several members who have fabbed up 2nd gen intercoolers in the non-ic front clips.

If you use the fenders, doors and bed from the same years it'll match.... the cab lines are the same. IIRC

Yes but if you just change the front clip like the op asked the lines will not line up and it will look kinda funny.
