I've had this 92 for about 6 months and I pull a lot of heavy loads with it and am looking for ways to beef up my engine and transmission. I was pulling about 10k lbs up a medium grade a few days ago and it was all I could do to get 30 mph.
Engine
My VE pump leaks a little so when I get it resealed I plan on having a spring kit installed too which should supply more power. I have seen these cone shaped air filters for diesels at auto parts stores lately that are supposed to add horsepower. Do these really add more horsepower and are they adaptable to my engine?
Transmission
I have the A518 automatic and want to beef it up for heavy pulling and was thinking of adding a DTT torque converter and VB. What is the right way to run the oil cooling lines? Through the radiator or through an auxilary oil cooler? Seems like it wouldnt be good to run the oil too cool. I have a sending unit in one of my lines so I assume I have an idiot light for oil temperature.

What do you think about these ideas and what are your recommendations?

#2 buy a newer truck that will tow better stock.

unless you want to dump $$$ and play alot with your truck dont start.

 

The sensor in the trans line is a high temp sensor that cuts out od. A better converter and a trans cooler will hemp a lot along with fixing the fuel leak and installing a 3200 spring.
