power steering problem

Here's the deal, this winter my 93 had been sitting for a while so I went and started it up to let it run for a little while. While it was sitting there idleing it started spewing out power steering fluid. It was pushing past the cap on the pump. I shut it down and haven't done much with it since.

The other day I went out to start it up since it's gotten warmer. I filled the power steering fluid back up and turned the wheel left to right several times and still no power steering. What's the deal???

what were your temps like where you are? it's possible the powersteering fluid could have gelled in the lines/box and had nowhere else to go when attempting to pump the fluid.

I have a very similar problem in my Utility truck. I was told to put a new pump in. Mine was wining a little bit before anyway. $80 +core from NAPA.

i also have the same problem, but mine is spewing out white fluid, and i belive that means its getting air in the system? the thing is my truck has sat for a year and i never had problems when driving it around the block. but now its warm out like mid 40's or so. so could it be the tempature affecting it?

if powersteering fluid is anything like motor oil, when it mixes with water it turns white and becomes sort of a mayonnaise consistency. that is, if it sits long enough. that maybe being your case.
