possibly a stupid question

possibly a stupid question

would 4 inch aluminum sprinkler pipe work for a cross over tube from the air box to the turbo. maybe??

I've never used it for that, but it's not made for high pressure if thats an issue and i dont think it's very smooth inside if you look at it very close and i dont think it has any sort of coating on it so that may cause you some problems, alot of if's. I would try to find the right pipe for the job my if it were me. good luck.

Turbos don't even come close to what I would consider high pressure, as most will make a maximum of 30-35 PSI.

So long as the design is good and you clean up all welding beads/slag, not allowing anything foreign to enter the intake, I say go for it.

The worst that could happen is to make a bulge in the tubing.


BUT, I am not at all familiar with "water sprinkler pipe", so if you mess up something, you are on your own.

There won't be any pressure on the airbox side of the turbo.

If I am reading it right, he means for the intake to the turbo. Which would have vaccum on (in) it.
edit: I am a slow typer.(sp?)

sorry for bring unclear. yes i meant replacintg the oem crossover with two rubber 45 degree elbows and piece of alluminum pipe. the wall of the pipe is probably 1/16 inch thick .
