Possible dowel pin ?
Its been a while since I have been on here,
I got a short distance from home and the truck gave a very hard shake and shut off with no warning so I got it off of the road and towed home. NOW it cranks over like always but doesn't start. I cracked the return lines and cranked it over and no fuel coming out. So what is the next thing to check after the fuel filter ?
Didn't there used to be a "how to do it " section on the site or did I miss it ? Thanks, Al

First thing I would check is the wire that runs to the fuel shut off solenoid.
Then I would try a direct line from the positive battery cable to to see if it starts.
How hard a shake are we talking anyway?

Ah thanks, I am going to change the fuel filter anyway and will check the solenoid. The shake was like blowing a tire BUT it only lasted for a couple seconds.

Did you get death wobble in the front end, which loosened your FSS wire??

Anything is possible. There 3 wires to the back of the pump. There is a 12 ga. deep blue wire that goes on a "fitting" just over the lines from the pump., which was tight. There is a light blue wire maybe a 14 ga. to the same fitting which was loose and a white wire going to the bottom of the pump that a small line threads into and that doesn't seem to have power to it and it was loose so I crimped the wire connections and after bleeding off the lines it started. SO I am guessing the bottom piece that the line is threaded into is the FSS ?

The lower unit with the small line that threads into it is the KSB.
The upper one is the FSS the two lines that run to it.
I am guessing you touching the lines made them get better contact and work again.
Google a picture of "1st gen Dodge 12V FSS" to make sure you know what need the line to be tight on.
Some people even bolt a ring connector to it rather than the spade connector that can loosen up and cause issues.

After replacing the spade connectors on the FSS a couple of times I finally replaced them with ring terminals. Easy fix. Just don't over tighten the terminal nut.
