Please help!!!!
 

Can someone who has a 1993 first gen 4x4 with stock suspension go measure their blocks under their rear leaf springs. I have a hunch that the 93's come factory with a larger block than the 91's and if that's the case I want to bring mine up to 93 standards my truck has a 3in block stock I think the 93's are 5 or 6 can someone please measure and confirm this. [verymad]

My 93 W350 has 6" blocks.

Why in the world would you want to do this ???????


By putting longer blocks under your springs, you increase the instability and / or axle wrap of the truck. Everyone here, who is reworking their rear suspensions, is doing the exact opposite of what you want to do, which is why I'm perplexed as to why ???? They're either eliminating their blocks all together, or putting the shorter ones like you have under their springs.

I know the instability is greater however I am running traction bars so axle wrap is non existent.

Dodgenstien your truck is factory with 6in blocks?

My 93 has 6" blocks. If you have 3" blocks then someone has probably installed after market springs which ride better. If you install a 6" block you're going to have a bad rake to your truck.

I know for a fact that my truck is factory the truck was bone stock when I bought it and I bought it from the original owner. I think being a 91 has a difference in the rear suspension

All the early 3/4ton trucks that I have seen came with 3 inch blocks from the factory including my 90 which I know to be stock as my neighbour bought it new in 89 and I bought it from him. Don't know for sure when the change to the taller blocks came but I suspect that it was the same time as the taller frames in the 3/4 ton.

What do you mean taller frames?

My 92 has 6 inch factory blocks. They measure with a tape measute to 5 3/8

Dodge increased the "height" of the frame in order to strengthen, or stiffen it...or they just got a cheaper deal on taller frames....[laugh]


They're physically taller from the top of the C channel to the bottom...centered in the truck under the cab and the forward section of the bed.

With the manual trans and south bend clutch yes. Made traction bars and no more axle wrap. Its unbelieveable how much axle wrap is there that you dont notice until traction bars are on. Shifting is as smooth as a little honda car now

My 1990 and 1991 (non i/c) trucks both came from the factory with 3 inch rear blocks, which accounts for the rather squat appearance of the earlier trucks. I have read that the rear lift blocks went to 6 inch in 1992 but I dont know that for sure. But I do know for sure that 1993s have a factory 6 inch rear block and that the front end appears to sit higher too. In my opinion the 1993s have the best "stance"...I have had to alter both of mine to replicate it.
