Pcm --> Voltage Regulator?

Questions, will everything work if I swap voltage regulator, or do I still need a working pcm to run speedo, grid heater, etc?

How much cutting/splicing has to be done to install a voltage regulator?

They want $200 ish for a new computer....

Thanks!

The speedo will still need a pcm to work. Does the speed work now?

An 8 volt regulator will solve the speedo problem. It takes it's signal directly from the sensor.
Mine has actually had a small light bulb feeding the sensor for 5 months.
It also has a toggle switch for the grids & on for the OD.
Needless to say the cruise is dead.
My PCM is toasted.

On your VSS plug, run a jumper from the black wire with the blue tracer to ground.
Your speedo should start working.

This is the switching ground from the ECM and will bypass the ECM.
It MIGHT also make a few other functions work, as that wire runs to a mutiple splice point near the BLACK plug located near the wiper motor.

Don't worry, it shouldn't short anything out, unless something is seriously wrong somewhere else.

This is very much like how I bench test speedos with a 12 volt power supply.

Mark.
