Painting truck... need some grill suggestions

I'm going to be painting the truck, and I'm keeping the non i/c stock grill, for the old school look. I was thinking of painting the center area the same color as the body (red). I was also thinking redoing it in silver, but painting the aluminum trim around the edge in black. I'm trying to clean up the look of the truck a little, I have removed the body trim, fender trim, and grandpa running boards. I'm also going to refinnish the chrome on the vent wings in satin black. Only chrome will be on the wheels and the bumpers. Anyone have a picture of a non ic truck with the grill painted to match the body color? I looked through the threads that had a bunch of pictures, but didn't come across anything. Most of the trucks seemed to have the intercooled chrome grill on them.

Thanks,
Jason

I kept my non i/c grill when i repainted my truck, mine was the bone stock grill, i ordered the replacement LE grill and headlight doors that has the chrome in the middle and i love it. it really cleans up the way it looks and makes it look prettier. but that's just my .02

i would paint the face of the grill silver and the holes red.

the big plastic grill came on non intercooled trucks too, mine are both 91 non factory intercooled and came with that grill,

Sorry guys but I still prefer the classic original styles. Perhaps an accent of darker gray to the original grille look. Every time I see a black painted grille & bumper or body matching paint I think about those "clunker" trucks on the government auction websites. Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder & it's your truck. Do what ever makes you proud of her!

Reason I was thinking about doing it body color, is thats how the earlier boxy body style Ford Lightnings were. My girlfriend used to have one, and it really had a clean looking front end, compared to the chrome or grey plastic grill the standard F-150 had.

thanks for the pic. My girll is all silver now, not chrome like the 91-93. If thats what it was to begin with, I would leave it that way.

I'm not going to change it over though, you see so few non i/c trucks around here. Its nice to have something that stands out from the crowd, even if its old!
