Pac exhaust brake help
I have a 92 cummins. I have a Pac engine brake on it. i bought this truck around a month ago. To the point, the brake works, but, when it engages I hear a lot of air escaping. Is this normal? if not, how do i fix this. Thanks.

mine sounds like an air compressor, has a good bit of muffled hissing. check the v band clamps also. they don't sound like most would expect

Mine does same thing works great hauling travel trailer has a muffel to it but I hate the sound of air escaping

Perfectly normal. Backpressure is controlled by either one or two holes in the butterfly valve, depending on what valve springs you have installed. So it sounds like air being released through the exhaust pipe, which is basically what's happening.

You can still buy pacbrakes for these trucks or do you have to buy one for a 2nd gen? can someone link me??
You have to have a 5 speed or a lockup automatic to run a pac-brake correct? |
I believe Pacbrake still sells them. Maybe only whatever stock they have left. AFAIK, the only difference between the 1st and 2nd Gen 12v brake is the throttle switch. Reason being is you have to buy their DP or make your own for the 1st Gen. The 2nd Gen switch can be modded to work on the 1st Gen with a custom mounting bracket:
