Overdrive Problem "update"

Ok,, I have checked the wiring from the od connection at the transmission, and I have 11.7 volts on one wire and a.07 ohms resistance to ground on the other wire, but I think the bolt I hooked my meter to was a little rusty ground. So the other wire is grounded! Where is the next stop for this wire?? I really need to fix this - been towing 8k and can't turn my od off Thx to all who chime in

It's rubbed through to ground somewhere. The harness runs up to near the fuel filter, then to a connector, then up over the brake booster (a common spot for chafing) then along the fenderwell to the PCM. You're just going to have to follow it.

The good news is that when you find it, a little electrical tape will solve the problem.

Thanks for all the input Dave, just want to make sure that the pcm would'nt falsely send a ground signal through that wire. Short of splitting the tape on that harness all the way to the pcm, I have'nt found any shorts to ground

You can unplug the connector aft of the fuel filter and that will help you narrow down which section of harness to look at. It's the gray connector, not the black one.

I can't see the PCM grounding it, but you could unplug the PCM and see if that gets rid of the short to ground.

Turns out it is the *&%!$*# pcm!!
harness was in great shape never been hacked, Anyway borrowed a pcm and "bingo" she works like a dream. Thanks again Dave for all your input.
Next project is pcm rebuild obviously. Near as I can see NAPA is about $270.00 to get rebuilt
