older Weld wheels

Hi, I recently purchased another donor truck. A 91 D350 with nice Weld wheels on it. I want to use them on my W350 truck but to use with my two steel inner wheels (so I only have to rebalance 4) do I have to grind the lug dishes (from factory lugs) off so the wheel lays flush with the aluminum wheel?? Also the donor truck used 5/8 18threaded duplex alcorn lug nuts. Can I use them? If so what should I torque them to compared to the factory style cuped lug nuts? I just dont want to ruin the Weld wheels Thank you

this sounds familiar. Did you pm me about this on another site and you were using a different username? grind the male coins flat where it seats against the weld wheel. If the lug nuts that came on the parts truck are correct for the welds use them. I would torque them to 140-150ft-lbs. you might contact weld and see what torque they recommend.

I'm using the factory steels on the inners with Alcoas mounted on the outside without any issues. I would only torque them to a max of 150ft.-lbs. I replaced my front lugs with a 2-piece flanged nut which called for no more than 150ft.-lbs. Drove it around about 100 miles and retorqued them.

Jimbo when I called Weld they told me to use a alcorn lug nut and to torque them to 135ft-lbs.

Are the stud holes and lug nuts tapered for centering the wheels?

Jimbo the current lug nuts (on donor truck) are not like the conical style (cupped) that my W350 has. They are the same style as a single wheel. The exact style is called a duplex alcorn. I had to buy a pack of gorilla nuts as two of mine were missing on the donor truck. I would assume they would be OK being they are on the donor truck. Should I use a different nut?
